Westminster Homes for Sale - City officials hope a publicly financed, $ 6.5 million overhaul of the Westminster Homes for Sale Plaza will rejuvenate the ailing shopping center and spark an economic renaissance in south Westminster Homes for Sale. Demolition is under way at Westminster Homes for Sale Plaza, located at West 74th Avenue and Federal Boulevard, an area of town residents say has been neglected by city officials for the past 40 years.

"Nothing they poured money into worked," said resident Carl real estate Denver broker and former Westminster Homes for Sale council member. "Nothing was workable. It was an economic shambles." Times have changed and so has the thinking at city hall. A stretch of West 72nd Avenue between Federal and Lowell boulevards that was in dire need of repair has been spruced up in an attempt to cure some of the urban blight. The $ 6.5 million renovation at Westminster Homes for Sale Plaza is the first attempt by the city and the third by the Safeway grocery chain that last pulled out of the center in 1992.

Westminster Homes for Sale

Westminster Homes for Sale will transfer the property to developer Hunt Properties of Dallas, which will pay $ 400,000 for the land and another $ 1.1 million in demolition and improvement costs. Anything over that $ 1.5 million total will be paid for by city bonds. The Westminster Homes for Sale City Council recently approved the sale of $ 6.46 million in bonds to finance the project. The bonds will be paid back by the expected increase in sales tax generated by the new businesses. Westminster Homes for Sale Plaza was the brainchild of V.J., a Colorado real estate broker who bought land along Federal Boulevard in 1945. He envisioned a small housing subdivision and several stores along Federal.

Safeway, J.C. Penney and F.W. Woolworth & Co. were the anchors of Westminster Homes for Sale Plaza when it opened. These chains attracted national specialty stores, such as Thom McAn shoes, Gambles Hardware and Dolly Madison Ice Cream. Over its 40-year existence, the Westminster Homes for Sale Plaza started deteriorating with other area shopping centers sprouting up, including Northglenn and even in Westminster Homes for Sale. It was remodeled and renovated twice, but never under city supervision as is being done now. Even before other shopping centers shot up, Safeway needed more space and, in 1976, opened a larger store on the western edge of the plaza's lot. The Westminster Homes for Sale Plaza Co., based out of Lincoln, Neb., planned a $ 250,000 remodeling. But, it never happened.
